Established in 2005 in Deir Qanoun, Ras el Ain (South Lebanon). Mawasem Al Dayaa is a women owned and managed food processing cooperative consisting of 30 women, producing traditional Lebanese preserves.
Mawasem Al Dayaa is the first Lebanese cooperative using solar energy in cooking. They are known for their specialty snacks like the traditional “Mallet el Smid”, a type of dried bread traditionally used for satiating hunger during long journeys like pilgrimages and “Kaak al Aabbass”, usually made during the religious observance of “Ashura”.
