Teta or “Grandma Kemleh” was born in 1869 at Chabtine Village, North of Lebanon. During her childhood, Teta Kemleh used to love nature and spent all her time between the orchards and olive trees. Married at the age of 17, Kemleh soon became known as “Assaad’s Mom” or “Emm Assaad”, a Lebanese custom to name the mother and father after their eldest boy.
A mother of three boys, unfortunately she soon lost her husband and her two youngest sons during the First World War and she was forced to support her family alone. Teta Kemleh used to personally take care of her fields and plantations. She used to grow the olives, press them to produce olive oil and made sure to teach her son Assaad and grandchildren the love of earth, and the secrets to healthy and natural planting and harvesting. Most importantly, she taught them generosity and love sharing. Before she died at the age of 112, she passed her will to her grandchildren and pleaded them not to leave the land she cherished. Her grandchildren did not forget her will and followed her path. Today, they wanted to share with you the taste of Teta Kemleh’s products, from genuine olive oil to other healthy products of her village.
“If one loved and took care of a land, it will overwhelm him with ample seasons, a healthy diet and a calm and happy life ” – Grandma Kemleh
