Coara’s story started with a transition of a family to vegetarianism, eating and relying more on whole grains and organic vegetables. After several weeks, they noticed stunning health results. They have a firm conviction that a diet based on whole grains, organic vegetables, and seaweed consumption free from meat, dairy products, sugar, and salt, can meet the nutritional requirements of the body and strengthen the immunity.
They opened the first vegan restaurant in Lebanon, in their village Kfar Qatra in Chouf. The restaurant is known for its tasty and innovative vegan dishes, like their lemonade made with agave nectar and orange blossom water! In 2012, they won the NOWARA Award for best economic initiative for the Lebanese rural woman in the field of agriculture and food processing.
